Who We Are

ABLE is a non-profit organization that was created by anglers to help restore the coastal estuaries and marsh lands of Louisiana.  Louisiana's coastal environment acts as a nursery to a good portion of the Gulf of Mexico's wildlife and sea life.  Devastating land loss is a major problem facing the coastal areas of Louisiana and ABLE is trying to do our part to leave this amazing ecosystem better than we found it.  ABLE has started its first project to help with shoreline stabilization in the eastern outer marsh areas of St. Bernard Parish.  We are planting native black mangroves along eroding shoreline to help prevent further land loss.  This black mangrove project has brought together public and private agencies as well as children from a local 4-H chapter who are raising next year's mangroves in their greenhouses.  ABLE plans to continue mangrove restoration while expanding into more restoration projects.  ABLE also wants to help raise funds for other projects in the state that are working to help protect our fisheries for this generation and many generations to come.
